FAQ's

What are your delivery times?

We will always state the delivery time within the scooter description you’re viewing.  We take every effort and pay particular attention to our website to ensure this information remains correct.  As a rule, we aim to hold as many scooters in stock as possible.

NEXT DAY DELIVERY:

When a scooter is in stock, we will dispatch as soon as possible upon clearance of funds.  If funds are cleared before midday, we will dispatch to you for NEXT DAY DELIVERY.  After midday, the scooter will arrive the day after, Monday to Friday.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver throughout the UK and Northern Ireland.

How long is my warranty?

Each manufacturer offers their own official warranty which may differ in duration.  You can be assured all our scooters are fully backed by at least a 1-year manufacturer warranty.  Some scooters for example; Egret, The Urban and the new Urban X Series are covered by 2-year warranties, including batteries.  The length of warranty is always stated within the product description.

See our section on Warranties for more details.

What does my warranty cover?

Most warranties will cover your scooter against manufacturing defects.  The exact coverage will vary between brands but should cover all parts except consumable parts subject to wear and tear, such as; tyres and handlebar grips.

See our section on Warranties for more details.

My electric scooter is faulty or damaged:

If your electric scooter arrives damaged or develops a manufacturing fault during normal use (as outlined in the manufacturer’s manual) within 14 days of your receipt, you’re entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

Simply contact us on: hello@e-mota.co.uk

Please include your order number, information about the fault, and any pictures/videos that demonstrate the problem. Let us know whether you want a refund, repair or replacement in this initial email.

Following an initial phone-based assessment, we will arrange collection and will organise for a repair, replacement or refund.  Please kindly note  all returns are assessed by e-mota.  Any fault must be confirmed before further action can be taken. This assessment process can take up to 3 days.   If no fault is confirmed the scooter will be returned to you.  We may charge to return your scooter to you in these circumstances.

What do I do if I have a problem with my scooter?

In the unfortunate event you have a problem with your scooter, first check the supplied instruction manual and look for any trouble shooting advice.  If you still need assistance, contact us straight away at hello@e-mota.co.uk.  We will be able to help and advise on how to get your scooter fixed in the shortest possible time and liaise with the manufacturer if required.  A majority of problems are usually minor and can be fixed with a conversation over the phone or video call. But if this is not possible, we’ll help to get you fixed up in the shortest time possible.

Can I ride my electric scooter in the rain?

We always advise you kindly refer to your scooter’s user manual as each scooter will be different.  Electric scooters aren't generally designed to be used in the rain and if you choose to use an electric scooter in wet conditions, you run the risk of water damage – which could void your manufacturer warranty if something goes wrong with your electric scooter at a later date.  For more information on scooters and waterproofing, see our guide.

Can I cancel my order?

Yes, you can … providing your order hasn’t been dispatched yet!  If you’ve changed your mind, get in touch with us immediately on hello@e-mota.co.uk.  Please include your order number.  If your order hasn’t been dispatched, we can cancel and arrange a prompt refund.  If it has been dispatched, see ‘I’ve changed my mind’.

I’ve changed my mind:

If you’ve changed your mind, don’t worry as you have 14 days from receipt of your order to let us know and another 14 days to return the goods.  For more information, please refer to our Refunds and Returns section.

For a full refund we always require the order to be returned unused, as new and in its original packaging with all components included.

How long will my refund take?

Once your refund has been approved by us, we will refund your payment to the original payment method within 14 working days.

Are electric scooters legal in the UK?

Currently it is illegal to use an electric scooter on the public highway within the UK & Ireland, including cycle paths and pavements.  See our blog on Electric Scooters and the Law for more details.

Can I come and collect my electric scooter?

Yes!  And we’d love to see you!  We are based in Sidmouth, East Devon.  So if a scooter is in stock and ready for dispatch, you’re more than welcome to collect!  Just contact us beforehand on hello@e-mota.co.uk.

How long does an electric scooter take to charge?

Scooter charging times vary between scooters.  Generally, the smaller the battery, the quicker it is to charge.  All chargers work plugged into a standard UK 3 pin socket.

Where should I store my electric scooter?

We always advise you store your electric scooter in a dry place and if not using it frequently make sure you give the battery a quick boost every couple of months.

How old do you need to be to ride and electric scooter?

Though there is no legal age, we always advise riders to be at least 16 before riding an electric scooter.

Which scooter should I buy?

There are lots of scooters to choose from with more becoming available every day.  We like to think we’ve done a lot of the hard work choosing a select range of affordable scooters to suite many needs from leading manufacturers.  To help fine tune your decision, take a look at our Buyer’s Guide.
